Selaginella lepidophylla or the Jericho Rose is native to the Chihuahuan Desert. It quickly "comes back to life" after it's rehydrated and continues the life cycle, fully recovering its photosynthesis and growth abilities. Ethically & sustainably harvested. (Anastatica heirochuntica is also called the Rose of Jericho and is from the Middle East. It prefers to root in soil to survive and is also considered to be a lesser attractive plant.)
Plants that go through an extremely stressful resurrection process are not always able to "rise again". Understandably, this plant symbolizes resurrection, rebirth, enduring love, and longevity in many world religions including Hoodoo, Wicca, Santeria, Yoruba, Catholicism, and many others.
Selaginella lepidophylla has been used as a herbal medicine to treat colds and sore throat. The plant is used in some cultures to invoke love and fortune and is said to absorb "negative energy". Many people save the water that the plant sits in to be used in blessing, cleansing/purification rituals.
Care instructions are included.
Measures approximately 2.5” in diameter when dry and approximately 5” when in bloom.
